Bethesda, MD – April 21, 2025 – The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics (CAO), one of the nation’s largest independent orthopaedic care providers, proudly celebrates the 100th anniversary of OrthoMaryland – Maryland’s oldest continuously operating independent orthopaedic group.
Now a division of CAO, OrthoMaryland has maintained a steadfast mission: to deliver exceptional, patient-centered orthopaedic care to the communities it serves. From its beginnings in Baltimore County to its current presence across four state-of-the-art facilities – now reaching into Harford County – OrthoMaryland provides comprehensive and specialized orthopaedic services including preventive care, surgery, chiropractic care, physical therapy and walk-in access.

OrthoMaryland’s team includes 14 board-certified physicians and 18 highly trained physician assistants and therapists, delivering more than 50,000 patient visits annually. OrthoMaryland is a pioneer in elevating the patient experience, offering walk-in orthopaedic appointments, extended hours, virtual care and convenient online scheduling.
Beyond clinical care, OrthoMaryland has long been a pillar of community engagement. It launched more than 25 years ago an annual education program for nurse care managers and local residents, sharing knowledge about musculoskeletal health and the latest treatment options. The practice also sponsors area schools, sports programs and youth teams, fostering healthy lifestyles and supporting the next generation of athletes.
To meet growing demand, OrthoMaryland recently opened a new 6,400-square-foot location in Abingdon, MD, its first in Harford County. The facility offers walk-in orthopaedic care, physical therapy, on-site X-rays, and a full suite of durable medical equipment (DME). With providers available Monday through Saturday, the new site is expected to serve approximately 2,000 orthopaedic patients and 2,000 physical therapy patients in its first year.
