Dr. Edward McDevitt's Busy Year

Dr. Edward McDevitt of the Bay Area Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Care Center has had a busy year filled with trips and presentations through his involvement with a number of orthopaedic and medical groups.

As a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons program committee, he helped organize the sports medicine papers for the group’s Annual Meeting in Orlando in March. In this role, he evaluated instructional courses and served as a moderator at the event. There, he was re-elected to a new three-year term to the AAOS Annual Meeting sports medicine program committee. 

In April, he organized and moderated an Irish-American Orthopaedic Society meeting in Westport, Ireland. He welcomed 36 Irish orthopaedic surgeons into the society.

In July, Dr. McDevitt was named chairman of the hall of fame committee and re-affirmed as an editorial board member for the American Journal of Sports Medicine at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Annual Meeting in Colorado Springs. He also attended a July meeting at the Herodicus Society Annual Meeting, where he presented a paper, “Is Football Too Dangerous?” He was elected to the executive committee during the meeting.

Finally, Dr. McDevitt serves as the Maryland representative for the Eastern Orthopaedic Society (EOA). He served as a moderator at the October meeting, where he also performed as a proud member of the EOA jazz band.
