NoVa Orthopedic & Spine Care

Founded over ten years ago, NoVa Orthopedic & Spine Care has established a well-earned reputation as a leader in delivering compassionate and personalized care to patients in Woodbridge and McLean, Virginia. While offering general orthopaedic procedures, the practice specializes in a variety of disciplines, including back, hand and wrist, spine, knee, elbow and shoulder treatments. Since joining The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, NoVa has been the first division to expand with the opening of its new location in McLean. The completely renovated and award-winning architectural building allows the physicians to now serve patients in two communities with an open-door, same-day policy.

NoVa’s orthopaedic physicians – Dr. Paymaun Lotfi and Dr. Richard Layfield and Dr. Cyrus Press – share a common bond and collaborative spirit forged in their early days training together during residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. Upon completing the program, Dr. Lotfi returned to Virginia to found the practice and was joined three years later by Dr. Layfield. Working together, the doctors grew the Woodbridge facility from a small two-room office to today’s 9,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility, delivering comprehensive orthopaedic care ranging from in-house physical therapy and pain management to spine surgery, sports medicine, x-rays and ultrasounds, as well as EMR and EMG services. Looking to grow the practice, Dr. Lotfi and Dr. Layfield reached out to their former residency program and recruited Dr. Press. Due to his strong expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery, his addition has further strengthened the division’s offerings.

Since joining The Centers, the doctors have enjoyed a natural increase in volume of patients by 10-20 percent as they continue to establish their division as a premier “one-stop shop” for a complete and comprehensive range of orthopaedic treatments and therapies within each local community. In addition to seeing close to 1,000 patients each month for physical therapy, the three physicians serve a growing average of 35-40 patients daily at the Woodbridge location, as well as an additional 10+ patients, three days a week at the McLean office.

As a smaller practice, the team at NoVa Orthopedic & Spine Care is especially excited about the collective power, through strength in numbers, that joining The Centers has provided. Now, they can enjoy the efficiencies and sharing of best practices across a large group while establishing a leadership position with others in the healthcare industry. As a unified group with a shared commitment to empowering the private practice model, the doctors believe The Centers can be a true force for delivering the highest-quality and most compassionate orthopaedic care in the region.
